How do you become a Beatles author, blogger, filmmaker, podcaster and member of The Quarrymen?
You get ill with a chronic incurable, painful, condition, but find a very wise and understanding doctor.
This is the story of how David Bedford started work on his first book, Liddypool: Birthplace of The Beatles, and went on to write and co-write several other books too, as well as the documentary film “Looking for Lennon” and so many more Beatles projects.
This is the story, from an interview in 2014 and then updated in 2024.

David, you are a historian and–thankfully for us–a Beatles historian. Your books and blog are incredible resources. When you made a video just for me, tracking the history of the TV clip of them that I’d seen before the Sullivan show, I was gobsmacked and absolutely elated. What a wonderful person and great scholar you are.

The Fab One Hundred and Four: The Evolution of The Beatles can I absolutely recommend and the others too.
David is a genuine Beatles scholar. Far more importantly, he is a great guy with great character and integrity. He is a wonderful administrator to this blog. I run out of adjectives to adequately describe what a talented and congenial person that he is. I consider him to be a great friend and associate who I often seek opinions and guidance from. Cheers and best wishes to you always, my buddy across the pond. Be healthy and be happy!!!
Thank you my friend, that means a lot. We make a good team.
David
Thanks Alfred
